Last weekend, I was in St. Louis. I like this city, especially sitting near the Mississippi river near the Arch. I already missed it. Anyway, we went to the Forest park museums: Art Museum and History Museum. I did videotaped some part of the museums. We found lots of rooms for Persian art, although with some wrong explanation. I explained to a guy over there about a part that was geographically explained wrong. He just said that there are a lot!! Seemed very careless.
The interesting thing was that in St. Louis History Museum, the first floor, there was a gallery about how black people were suffering, their history since 500 years ago. I was there and noticed that the security guy was noticing to me. After a while he came and warned me about not taking any picture nor video from "this special gallery." I don't understand, if the slavery was wrong why ashamed of saying it or showing it or being accused about it. Unless there is no belief that slavery was and/or is wrong, I don't see any point to forbid the video making about it. I had thought that a big multicultural city like St. Louis is more Democrat that it seemed to be.
I changed the color of blog into green. I had in my mind from the begining to add a Persian blog, I still want to do it. I have also want to write in French for practicing my French knowledge and writing, so here the new section will come soon.
Last week, I was in the largest tethered helium balloon in the United States, Branson Balloon. While I was there, I was wondering how far a balloon would actually ride? Although it was a nice experience, but it was less than what I expected, especially the "holder rope", made the excitement less.
Iran's upcoming presidential election will be held on June 17th. Eight years ago, among all other students, I was active and a pro-Khatami among my friends in these days. Although I didn't expect any quick changes, but I kind of gave up the things that I was day-and-night following due to the social change in Iran. Those days I really believed in Khatami, and his doctorine, however I don't still think that social change has to be in a short period of time. But the excitement that I had 8 years ago, I don't feel a bit now.
Among the candidates, if I was in Iran, I would vote to Moeen, which is from Khatami's party. Rafsanjani is a dangerous but pragmatic character and the rest of them are more or less conservative hardliners. But my guess is that Rafsanjani will be selected.
For those of you that might want to know about Iran's elections, it is a two stage election. In the first stage, all candidates have to be validated and filtered through an Islamic so-called Guardian Council which consist 12 hardliners. The ones who pass this filter are to be voted nationwide.
I really don't know what I am going to do with my life.
For some time, I wanted to be a mathematician, but situation in Iran guided me forcedfully to engineering. Although I didn't go for any applicational science that is the basic in engineering. I unconciousely insisted on theoretical aspects of engineering, along with some philosophical/religous questions, so I continued my education. Right now, when I look back into my life, I feel more and more that it's not what satisfies me. It's scary.
Recently, I was reading a book about classical social theory and how it developed. The more I read the life of the socialogists in the 17, 18, 19 centuries, the less I believed in academic and formal education. We have some new samples too, Bill Gates and the Founders of Google didn't get what they had to get from the school.
Life is really complex, and I don't think that I can never answer such question that what is best to do with life. Sometimes it's better not to think, just enjoy. Sometimes I rech to a point that life doesn't mean anything to me and there is no value to continue it. It sounds a bit scary but relaxing.
I have - with no specific reason - decided to learn French, while I don't know English quite well. I go to a class whose teacher is from the Netherlands and wants to teach French for her practice. I also use the BBC website for more practice.
